Located at the foot of a nature reserve in the affluent enclave of Bedfordview in Johannesburg, South Africa, this ultra-modern contemporary residence artistically morphs steel, glass and concrete into an architectural sculpture that transcends into a breathtaking 11,840 sq. ft. luxury dwelling. Commissioned to be a family-oriented residence suitable for indoor/outdoor entertainment, the structural design is nothing short of brilliant in form and function.

With every room in the house opening outdoors, an exterior exoskeleton of steel wraps around the entire frame the structure wrapping the concrete with boldly placed off-shutter contrasting black boundary walls establishing that this is no ordinary piece of architecture. The angled steel roof of the entrance hall overhangs the double volume window and glass front door at the entrance with a sculptural steel staircase visible behind the window.
The entrance wall is clad with natural timber in a herringbone pattern to soften the harshness of the steel, glass and concrete interior, while the backlit ceilings creates a shadow less interior inside sculptured 3D forms.

Steel perforated panels and off-shutter concrete were amongst the elements used throughout the interior, while perimeter lighting compliments the bold forms and defines the angles within the spaces of the residence. The structural elements within the interior volumes were purposely designed to appear sculptural with futuristic dependent architectural components seamlessly transforming interior and exterior spaces. The stylistic design of the residence coherently merges the modern geometry of the architecture with the exclusive acumen of a luxury lifestyle beyond ordinary.
