Aston Martin Reveals the V12 Zagato Supercar at The Razor Residence

As one of the most renowned and iconic sports car brands in the world, Aston Martin epitomizes exclusivity with a culture of building cars that combine formidable performance with the prestige of a true luxury car. With a long and rich history of producing legendary sports cars over the past nine decades, Aston Martin has introduced some of the most beautiful and sought-after cars in the world.

On this the 50th anniversary year of its celebrated and historic collaboration on the DB4GT with famed Italian design house Zagato, a new collaboration has produced yet another stunning example of the Aston Martin pedigree with the introduction of the new Aston Martin V12 Zagato.

Aston Martin chose to reveal the new V12 Zagato as a celebration of the ultimate in automotive design and luxury lifestyle at an exclusive private evening event in a stunning La Jolla, San Diego architectural masterpiece designed by famed architect Wallace Cunningham, known as the Razor. As the V12 Zagato is a true expression of prestige and exclusivity, it is only fitting that Aston Martin would select to host an event in one of the ultimate expressions of modern luxury available today in a home that has been described as a trophy property and an architectural masterpiece.

The Razor is an inspiring example of a home that represents a luxury lifestyle that blends perfectly with the technological wonder that is the Aston Martin V12 Zagato. The Razor event was a private Aston Martin affair that was described as a “private evening of power, beauty, and soul.” The invitation-only event saw guests arriving at the Razor in San Diego at 9826 La Jolla Farms Way, La Jolla, California, for a welcome and reception at 7:00 pm on August 25th.

The new luxury Aston Martin dealership, San Diego European Motorcars, provided an Aston Martin Concierge service with valet parking for invited guests. The main entrance to the Razor served as a checkin and registration confirmation, after which guests walked along the Razor’s spectacular infinity pool into the courtyard with a stunning view of a La Jolla sunset.

Guests were welcomed to the spacious, luxurious inner courtyard of the Razor, an area that almost seems custom-made for entertaining or grand gatherings and events such as this. Although the event was hosted to introduce Aston Martin’s latest creation, the Razor was open for viewing and one of the star attractions of the evening.

Emma Gwyther and Nathan Gildersleeve of the Interluxe Group in La Jolla organized the event at the Razor on behalf of Aston Martin. Guests were presented with a fabulous range of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, including a special Aston Martin menu with canapes and small plate selections. The menu was prepared by renowned executive chef Lance Repp from the La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla.

The Razor was filled with over 200 invitation-only guests for the exclusive event, which marked a key moment for Aston Martin in San Diego. The incredible facade of the Razor, with its floor-to-ceiling glass curtain walls and white polished concrete, glistened in the La Jolla sunset as evening fell upon the celebratory crowd. The master mixologists from the Snake Oil Cocktail Company were on hand to serve up custom-designed “Razor” cocktails as well as a popular range of beverages.

As the evening progressed, guests continued to mix and mingle, awaiting the imminent introduction of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato that was lurking in the subterranean garage of the Razor.

Violet Simpson from listing agent Hurwitz James Company was at the event to answer any potential questions guests had regarding the 11,000 sq. ft. Razor property, which is currently up for auction at the end of the month with a minimum bid of $16 million USD, down from the original list price of $45 million. The Razor provided a breathtaking backdrop resting high above Tory Pines State Reserve with a spectacular view over the world-famous Black’s Beach below.

Then, the moment the V12 Zagato finally arrived, Emma Gwyther, founder and CEO of Interluxe, invited everyone downstairs to the Razor theatre, where Aston Martin would play a short video introduction. Then, everyone was drawn into the cavernous and nearly pitch-black Razor garage by the roar of a high-revving engine to witness the glowing headlights of the car that everyone in attendance was there to see. As the lights were turned up, the Aston Martin V12 Zagato supercar was revealed.

The crowd erupted in applause in appreciation of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato. Immediately, the Aston Martin took center stage as the room turned into almost a paparazzi-like frenzy of picture-taking. The Aston Martin certainly captured the crowd’s attention as people continued to view the V12 Zagato well into the evening.

Upstairs, it was still alive with activity late into the night as eventgoers continued to socialize and take in the atmosphere of the Razor. The evening was a great success.  Aston Martin delivered the V12 Zagato to great praise and admiration from the crowd.  It was evident that everyone enjoyed the event. As the evening drew to a close, the Razor took on yet another one of its many personalities.

The Razor went from the extravagant spectacle of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato to the serenity and peace of an architectural marvel. And for one night, it was befitting that the property that has been described as one of the most incredible luxury properties in the world revealed a car that Aston Martin’s Chief Executive Dr. Ulrich Bez said, “will be one of the most highly coveted models in Aston Martin’s 98-year history.”

The Aston Martin v12 Zagato is a bold and elegant design inspiration of luxury that could only be matched by the architectural wonder that is the Razor.
