Set in the midst of the idyllic region of Apulia adjacent to the Adriatic Sea in Southern Italy, Vill Di Giola was designed as a luxury residence with inspiring open spaces in transparent harmony with its surrounding. Catering to a typical soothing and relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle, the residence integrates several sleek volumes and cutouts that invite the sunlight inside the house, bathing the entire living environment in light.

A perfect representation of a modern home with minimalist influences, the complex spatial articulation of the home’s architecture respects the rules of energy efficiency with environmentally conscious design. The result is a design that is strongly influenced by bioclimatic conditions to enhance energy efficiency and at the same time enhance solar contribution. This design approach is clearly recognizable in the shape of the building, in the choice of the openings, in the relations of light and sunshine that were made according to the rules of a sustainability passive house.

The architecture, set in a landscape with a strong Mediterranean heritage, was deliberate in purpose, creating an artifact of white residential luxury under the hot sun of Puglia. The shape of the building and the positioning of the openings capture the sea breezes from the northeast and filter light and sunshine in all seasons with reciprocal shading between the various parts of the building. The use of natural materials such as cork toasted brown insulation and natural landscaping enhance the villas sustainability and its exclusivity as a luxury living environment in harmony with its surroundings.
