When you think about beautiful areas of the country that feature lovely waterfront properties, you might understandably consider places like Maui, Miami, and Lake Michigan. While these areas definitely boast plenty of fantastic homes right on the water, there are a lot of other states that also offer spectacular waterfront homes. As an example, you should consider the following three states.
Oregon
From its gorgeous and rugged coast to its inland bodies of water like the Columbia River Gorge, the state of Oregon has plenty of beautiful waterfront properties. One region that offers plenty of scenic beauty near the water is Mt. Hood. In addition to breathtaking views of the sleeping volcano for which the town is named, Mt. Hood is known for two water-related sports—whitewater kayaking and kiteboarding. People who live in the area can enjoy these sports virtually year-round, and there are also plenty of opportunities to get out and watch as well. In addition, for residents who enjoy fishing, the local waters are chock-full of salmon. Over on the coast, there are waterfront properties galore that feature breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and its inhabitants. New York

The longest of the two lakes, Cayuga Lake and Seneca Lake, are around 40 miles long but aren’t more than four miles wide. For residents who would like to take advantage of the many lakes and get out on the water, it’s important that they make sure they get the proper boating license ahead of time. In addition to boating and other water-related activities, the Finger Lakes region is well known for its wide selection of delicious wines.
Texas
Austin, Texas is the starting point for the really lovely Highland Lakes region. For over 80 miles northwest of Austin, you will find six lakes that are great for fishing and boating, as well as plenty of upscale waterfront homes. Lake Austin and Lake Travis—the two that are closest to Austin itself—are the most popular with residents. As Moreland Properties notes, there are many exceptionally luxurious and high-end waterfront properties in the Austin area, including palatial properties with their own docks and amenities galore. Lake Austin in particular has a great deal of prime waterfront homes, which are conveniently located close to downtown and great school districts.
