Their rendered designs for what would be an awe-inspiring architectural masterpiece pits a sleek, modern home wedged cliffside, sunken clifftop entirely within rock with a luxurious infinity pool, technically rooftop, but physically flush ground level on the edge of a cliff. They call this Casa Brutale and it is breathtaking and terrifying at once yet exhilarating in every way.
The architectural concept of this incredible home carved inside a cliff has a massive multipurpose glass-bottomed roof purposed both as a skylight and infinity pool. The team at Open Platform for Architecture (OPA) wants to build this house on the high cliffs above the Aegean Sea with a towering glass wall overlooking the ocean in Greece.
With relatively little impact on the surrounding environment, few areas of Casa Brutale are actually visible from the outside. The surface of the structure is a swimming pool with main entrance steps that descend you beneath the pool into the cliff-carved home. The main living space, which has an enormous glass facade, provides unforgettable views throughout the entire residence with little in the way of decor where the minimalist nature of simplistic interior design features cool concrete surfaces offset by gorgeous aged wood.
The natural beauty of the scenic environment plays a major role within the home as both the front glazing and rooftop pool serve as sources of natural light. Swimmers can enjoy spectacular ocean views and gaze below into the home’s marvellous feat of accomplished architecture that truly is one-of-a-kind. The pool produces a unique effect inside as the sun passes through the billowing body of water, reflecting brilliant patterns into Casa Brutale’s floors and walls.
