  • Name: Villa de Mast

The striking appearance of Villa de Mast is a sleek and clear representation of style and minimalism, yet sober in its earthly pedigree, subjugated by the rich architecture of its material elements dominated by concrete and glass. Opulent dimensions, combined with the spatial qualities of the house and surrounding garden, make the structure an unprecedented representation of modernism and in some sense, the endless luxury of contemporary grandeur.

A vocabulary of overgenerous spaces encapsulates the interior with separate wings housing private and public realms. A rectangular living room separates the kitchen into one wing from the sleeping quarters in the other wing. The living room adjoins a large lounge terrace, surrounded by a white steel pergola. The unique forms and frames of the structure include the concrete steps of the stairs that seem to float, and embedded glass within the floor, without visible elements that hold it there as if it were invisible.

Characterized by the gray basalt stone facades with large glass surfaces and white steel louvers, the residence is a pure form intersected by a void, which crosses the house, as if it were pulled apart, allowing daylight to enter deeply within. The modern minimalist design has also been continued into the interior with an additional building layer created underground with a basement level swimming pool, sauna, home cinema, dance room, wine cellar and parking for several cars.
