Located in a serene residential precinct near the shimmering Arenal beach in Jávea, Alicante, the KRZ home stands as a beacon of modern architectural design that gracefully dialogues with its environment. The site, characterized by a large plot with a gentle westward slope, offers a panoramic backdrop that stretches to the northern horizon. The inception of the project took a cue from the land’s intrinsic geometry and topography, allowing for an organic integration of the structure within the locale, thus ensuring minimal disturbance to the existing landscape while optimizing the splendid views.

The architectural narrative of the KRZ home unfolds through the harmonious merger of two distinct volumes, which conjoin to create an elegant unifloor layout. The contrasting heights of these volumes yield a dynamic silhouette against the skyline, while their convergence is artfully punctuated by a central patio, reminiscent of a Roman atrium. This central void serves a trifecta of purposes: it marks the threshold, orchestrates the flow and spatial organization of the rooms, and forges a visual synergy between the dwelling’s interior and exterior realms. The entrance of the house is denoted by a sculptural pergola, standing at the intersection of the volumes, inviting both light and shadow to play across its threshold, thus setting the stage for the transition into the private sanctuary.

Visual poetry is at the heart of the KRZ home’s design philosophy. The northern façade of the main volume is an ode to the breathtaking sea vistas and the rugged outlines of Cape San Antonio, each view meticulously framed to capture nature’s ever-changing tableau. In contrast, the southern aspect dissolves into a tranquil Mediterranean oasis, featuring a sun-drenched terrace, a reflective pool, and a garden that whispers tales of the region’s flora. The architectural elements conspire to accentuate the horizontality of the edifice, with a heightened main volume that amplifies the spatial experience and a pavement that gracefully ascends from the earth, serving as a plinth that anchors the home to its hallowed ground.
