Gullfoss is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Iceland, and it's no wonder why because the waterfall, known as the "Golden Falls," is a spectacular display of Mother Earth's true natural beauty.

Located in the river canyon of Hvítá in southwest Iceland, the iconic Icelandic waterfall rushes southward, turning sharply down into a wide curved three-step "staircase," before abruptly plunging two stages (11m and 21m) into a crevice that measures 32m (105 feet) deep. The average amount of water traveling through this waterfall is 140 m³/s during summertime and 80 m³/s during the winter season.

The shimmering grace by which the Golden Falls of Gullfoss fall is fed by Iceland's second biggest glacier, the Langjökull, with ice packed up to 580 m (1,900 ft) thick.
