Seen from Highway 1, commonly referred to as the Pacific Coast Highway, is this dramatic sunset in California between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It is through the Greater Los Angeles Area, the San Francisco Bay Area, and several other coastal urban areas that Highway 1 earns its label as California State Route 1.
The coastal highway stretches far up north of California, through Orgeon and Washington, before reaching Canada. In the south, Highway 1 leads you to Mexico.
Celebrated for running along some of the most beautiful coastlines in the USA, Highway 1 is designated as an All-American Road, as recognized by the United States Department of Transportation. Currently 31 roadways, spanning across 46 states, are listed with the All-American Road designation.
