How to Clean Eucalyptus Sheets

How to Clean Eucalyptus Sheets

Eucalyptus sheets have recently become a very popular item. If you have ever tried sleeping on them, you will quickly find out why they are so popular!

Made from the pulp of eucalyptus trees, these sheets are not only hypoallergenic and antibacterial, but they are also very soft to the touch. They also do a fantastic job of regulating your body temperature and wicking sweat. Another huge plus is that eucalyptus sheets are truly eco-friendly. Now a day’s eucalyptus sheets at SheetsGiggles.com are quickly becoming the most beloved for summer sheets.

It is no surprise that these sheets are so beloved! However, many happy users get confused about the care of the product, especially when it comes to cleaning. Some may even hesitate to purchase eucalyptus sheets because of this confusion. Eucalyptus fabric is resistant but requires different care than cotton or bamboo sheets do.

General Care Instructions for Eucalyptus Sheets

While it is true that Eucalyptus sheets require different care than other popular fabrics, they are not all that difficult to care for. However, it is essential to understand and keep in mind the following tips.

Sheets, covers, and pillowcases, when washed in a washing machine, should be cleaned using a delicate setting and always with cold water. It is recommended to hang them out to dry, or if you use a dryer, use a low heat or no heat setting.

Comforters should be spot cleaned as the need arises. Generally, eucalyptus comforters should be cleaned every two to three months. If they are cleaned more often than that, it may affect the lifespan of eucalyptus comforter overtime.

One option is to dry clean them. Otherwise, they should be cleaned using a delicate setting with cold water.

IMPORTANTNever use bleach on Eucalyptus sheets, pillowcases, or comforters. Bleach is a harsh product and is too harsh for delicate Eucalyptus products as it would easily damage them. Besides avoiding using bleach directly, it is important to make sure that the cleaning detergents and stain removers are free from the bleach.

What About Stains on Eucalyptus Sheets?

What about stains, how should they be removed from eucalyptus sheets? Below are some basic tips for general stains, wine stains, and oil stains.

General stains:

It is best to treat stains immediately before washing them as you usually do. If you use a commercial cleaner, make sure it is free from bleach; remember that chlorine is another term used for bleach, so it should be free from chlorine.

If you want to try a homemade remedy, you can mix 1 TBS of vinegar with four TBS of water. This simple detergent can be very effective and is not harsh or invasive. Apply the detergent, and after letting it soak in, wash as usual.

An alternative homemade solution is to make a paste combining warm water baking soda. Apply the paste, and after it soaks in, wash as normal. A word of caution, however, there is a small chance that this paste may adversely affect colors in certain sheets, so test a small area before using it to remove stains.

Wine Stains:

If wine, blood, or other dark liquids get on your sheets, you should immediately remove the bedsheets and dowse the stain in cold water; this will help keep the stain from setting in. The next step is to use a good detergent, either commercial or homemade.

If you choose a commercial detergent, try an enzyme cleaner (make sure it is chlorine/bleach-free). Soak the stained area for at least 15 minutes with the cleaner and cold water. It is essential that you use cold water and never warm, which would allow the stain to soak deeper into the fabric. The stain may come right out if it doesn’t try rubbing it together with your hands and see if it comes out.

An alternative to the enzyme cleaner would be to use peroxide. Try mixing a cup of hydrogen peroxide with a quarter cup of lemon juice and twelve cups of cold water. This mixture is especially effective for bloodstains.

Oily Stains:

Oil stains may seem impossible to get out. However, there are two surprising solutions. The first one is to try using liquid degreasing dishwashing detergent.

One option is to do a cold water prewash, either by hand or in your washing machine, using a quarter cup of liquid dishwashing detergent. The other option is to apply a small amount of detergent directly to the stain and massage it before putting the sheets in your washing machine.

The other surprising option is to use shampoo; it is best to use shampoo for oily hair. Apply a small amount of the shampoo directly to the stain and rub it before putting it in your washing machine.

In conclusion

There is no reason to fret if you stain your beloved eucalyptus sheets. Follow these simple tips, and you will be able to care for and keep your sheet in pristine condition for years to come!
