Jardín del Sol House – 6 Calle la Jara, Tacoronte, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain

House at Jardín del Sol - 6 Calle la Jara, Tacoronte, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain

Summary

A sculpture of concrete and glass on a wooden platform perched at the edge of a cliff; the House at Jardin del Sol was designed to merge with its surroundings as an opus of admiration for the spectacular Tenerife views over the water and the sandy black beaches 300-meters below.

Located on the north coast of the Jardin del Sol (Garden of the Sun) on Spain’s Canary Islands, the monolithic structure is purposely sited on a cliff-edge so that the water surfaces of the infinity pool seem to viscerally melt into the Atlantic Ocean below.

Constructed of several cuboid modules that conform to strict formal resource contentions with buildings volumes that appear to be inserted into the natural slope, the residence is architected with structural elements that are naturally organized with defined reverence to the spectacular sight of the sea.
